July 11, 2002
Toms River, NJ (July 11, 2002) – All four Jersey Shore Boca Super Y-League teams will see action this weekend when they host seven SYL games at Ocean County College in Toms River.
On Saturday July 13th, Boca squares-off against the powerful Northern Virginia Royals of Fairfax VA. This is the first meeting between the two clubs in the 2002 Super Y-League season.
One year ago during the 2001 Super Y-League season, the Boca U14s and U18s defeated the Royals twice, both home and away while the Boca U16s split the season series.
The Boca U14 SYL team starts the day off on Saturday at 11am followed by the Boca U15s at 1pm and the Boca U16s at 3pm. In the spotlight game of the day, the Boca U17s finish the Saturday game card when they take the field at OCC at 5pm against the Royals.
On Sunday July 14th, three Boca teams take the pitch again at Ocean County College to battle the always dangerous Super Nova FC of Harrisburg PA.
This will be the second meeting between Boca and Super Nova in this 2002 Super Y-League season. The Boca U14s have already defeated Super Nova 2-1 while the Boca U15s and U16s each dropped their first game against Nova 1-0 and 4-2 respectively.
In last year’s Super Y-League season, both the Boca U14s and U18s split the season series with Super Nova while the Boca U16s dropped both games a year ago.
The Sunday lineup at Ocean County College starts off with the Boca U14s at 11am followed by the U15s at 1pm. The Boca U16s complete the seven game Super Y-League weekend home stand starting at 3pm.
The Super Y-League is a National elite youth league which is run and administered directly by the United Soccer Leagues (USL) and the United States Soccer Federation (USSF). It is the only national youth soccer league in North America.
Jersey Shore Boca is now in their second year of competition in the Super Y-League. Boca is only one of four soccer clubs in New Jersey invited to participate in the Super Y-League. Boca is the only soccer club in Monmouth and Ocean County as a member of the SYL. Boca has placed 4 teams in the 2002 Super Y-League; U14s, U15s, U16s and U17s.
Jersey Shore Boca competes in the highly competitive Super Y-League’s Mid-Atlantic region. In addition to Boca the region includes the South Jersey Barons of Winslow NJ; FC Delco of Downingtown PA; Super Nova FC of Harrisburg PA; the Northern Virginia Royals of Fairfax, VA; the Chesapeake Athletic Club of Bowie MD; Matchfit Academy of Hoboken, NJ and youth development teams from DC United of Major League Soccer.
After the games this weekend, Jersey Shore Boca continues their 2002 Super Y-League season on Wednesday July 17th when three of Boca’s Super Y-League teams will see action. Boca will host the perennial league powerhouse DC United at Ocean County College in Toms River. That evening of Super Y-League action begins with the U14s kick-off at 4pm followed by the U16s and U17s at 6pm.
