TOMS RIVER — Seven Jersey Shore Boca standouts have finalized their decisions to continue their soccer and academic careers in college this fall.
The seven high school seniors are Danny Haydu of Toms River (Toms River High School East), who will attend Monmouth University; Joe Cutler of Stafford (Southern Regional), who will attend Rider University; Darren Rutherford of Cape May (Lower Cape May Regional), who will also attend Rider; Pat Gee of Spring Lake Heights (St. Rose), who will attend North Carolina Wesleyan College; Robert Galante of Sayreville (Sayreville War Memorial), who will attend Bloomfield College; David Novak of East Windsor (Hightstown), who will attend East Stroudsburg University, and David Nicholson of Millstone (Allentown), who will also attend East Stroudsburg.
All previously played in the Super Y-League and all will be on the roster of Boca’s U-19 Super Y-League team for 2004.
Haydu and Cutler, who have signed national letters of intent for their respective colleges, are long-time members of the Jersey Shore Boca youth program. They played on the Boca U17 Super Y-League team of 2002.
Rutherford, Gee, Galante, Novak and Nicholson helped Boca’s 2003 U17 Super Y-League team earn a fourth-place finish and record of 6-6-1 last year.
Including the seven high school standouts, Jersey Shore Boca has 23 alumni who are current or previous members of Boca Super Y-League teams that will participate in NCAA inter-collegiate soccer for their respective schools in the fall.
